It's official! Trulieve is now the largest cannabis company in the nation after they finalized their purchase of Harvest Health. The medical marijuana giant, created in Tallahassee, Florida, had been working diligently for months to finish their $2.1 billion buyout, and the day is finally here. Both companies combined for over $300 million in the second quarter of 2021, the highest among US cannabis companies. Now, Trulieve owns it all and is flexing their money and strength in the cannabis market.
Harvest and Trulieve were already cannabis giants in Florida and this buyout screams possible monopolization in the medical cannabis market. Many patients, critics, and skeptics view Trulieve as the poster child for ”corporate cannabis”, where money and legislative power have caused their growth in the industry, leading up to today where they are now the largest cannabis company in the US. Trulieve, of course, thinks otherwise and believe this buyout will continue their advancement as federal legalization is becoming a point of emphasis for voters in 2022. Before the buyout, both stores combined for nearly 150 stores in Florida. Trulieve owns it all now.
